An Early Childhood Development Centre caring for 70 children aged 3 – 6, from the heart of Casablanca and Sercor Park 2 in Strand.
We care for 70 pre-school children between 3 and 6 years old — from the disadvantaged community around Casablanca and Sercor Park 2 in Strand. Each child is known by name, fed, taught, and loved.
We're based at the Community Hall of Casablanca, which we lease from the City of Cape Town. Four prefab classrooms sit alongside the hall, together with a Wendy-house office. Our six educators teach five mornings a week, following the CAPS programme and preparing each child for mainstream school.
Every child receives two meals a day, and we take them on excursions to nature reserves and other places of interest. Parents contribute a small monthly fee and meet with us each term — because the centre belongs to the community as much as to us. We also support our educators financially with training opportunities, and hold an annual AGM at which audited financial statements are presented.
Simple in principle. The work of a lifetime in practice.
A warm classroom, clean clothes, two nourishing meals a day, and educators who know every child by name.
Grade R, Grade RR, and three-year-old classes, taught by a team following the national CAPS curriculum and preparing children for mainstream school.
A Christian home — in partnership with the Dutch Reformed Church Gordon's Bay — where children are introduced to our Lord Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Bible.
Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
